Welcome to Seminary Ridge
Welcome! Seminary Ridge is a great place to call home! Our wonderful community offers the appeal of an established neighborhood, with beautiful architecture and a rich history. Most of the neighborhood is part of the Seminary Ridge Protection Area Historic District. Inclusion in the historic district signifies the architectural significance of your property and may require special review for some exterior work projects. Homeowners are encouraged to learn more about the designation and requirements by visiting our For Residents page and calling the City of Columbia’s Preservation Office at (803) 545-3222.
The Seminary Ridge Neighborhood is a secret gem located near downtown Columbia. The neighborhood, bordered by Columbia College Avenue to the North, North Main Street to the East, and Monticello Road to the Southwest, is home to a diverse population of residents and businesses. Tree-lined streets, walkable destinations – such as grocery stores, restaurants, dry cleaners, drug stores and parks – bus stops, sidewalks and the convenience of little traffic are a few of the highlights. With the range of style and housing options in our community, there’s something for everyone. Whether new residents are looking for the modern amenities of new construction or the charm and character of older homes, they can find it at Seminary Ridge.
Seminary Ridge is in close proximity to downtown Columbia, Lenoir Rhyne University (Lutheran Southern Theological Seminary), Columbia College, The University of South Carolina and I-20.
Some of the well-known landmarks located in the neighborhood include: the Eau Claire Print Building, the Eau Claire Town Hall, Angelo’s Zesto, Lutheran Theological Seminary (now called Lenoir Rhyne University) and the Ensor-Keenan House.
We have an active neighborhood association that welcomes and encourages participation from all residents, business owners and property owners.
Our motto is: Where History and the Future Mix.
We look forward to seeing you at Seminary Ridge!
